Not My Red Ale

Not My Red Ale

Not My Red Ale was the second brew to flow from bottles wearing a Whirly Bird badge. Without making a short story long, the beer ran out at the house and replacements were needed before a we could fully plan the next liquid adventure. Essentially we used someone’s recipe and made some small modifications. It felt worse to do than it did to drink.

This particular American Red Ale has some Special B and roasted barley jammed into the bottle along with a bunch of Magnum, Falconer’s Flight, and Simcoe hops. This fermentation taught the Brewmaster that yeast that’s too happy inside an already crowded carboy can indeed get kraeusen all over the ceiling; even the fifteen foot vaulted ceiling.
