If it smells like a stout and tastes like a stout but doesn’t look like a stout, can it really be a stout? Suspicious Stout was born a month ago and finally reached maturity last Saturday. While the type of beer may be open to debate, the judges all agree it satisfies the taste buds!
Suspicious Stout sits at 4.9% ABV, 62 IBU, and 23 SRM. A little light in color but it makes up for it in flavor. Chocolate, oatmeal, caramel flavors say hello to your palate with each sip as does the sweet/spicey hint of the toasted fenugreek. The high IBU is balanced out quite well with malt and the result is far from the hoppy stout the numbers would have you think. Overall, a success for Whirly Bird although it is suspiciously light for a stout…
